2 Vacant Houses burn on Nutt Ave
08-02-09, Box 48, 05:00,  Residential Structure Fire

At 0500 Uniontown and South Union Firefighters were dispatched to the area of Veech St. for a report of a "small fire on the roof".  As Capt. Lovey's crew approached the area he saw the fire was on Nutt Ave and went on scene with two houses well involved with exposures on either side.  An agressive defensive attack was started and the fire was kept the the original fire buildings.  It took over two hours to bring the fire under control with the last units clearing the scene around 1000.  South Union was on stand-by in Central Station and handled an automatic fire alarm at a downtown senior citizen high rise.  Hopwood assisted with thier manpower while Farmington and Connellsvile Township RIT teams stood-by onscene during the incident.  No injuries were reported.
